J-Buckle All Natural Cattle Exceed Niman Ranch Specifications

J-Buckle cattle fed at Royal Beef, Scott City, KS, and purchased by Niman Ranch met and exceeded the rigid specifications for their natural brand. The first 40 head load had an 822-pound average hot carcass weight. One hundred percent (100%) of the pen graded USDA Choice. Seventy-five percent (75%) met specifications for Certified Angus Beef, with seven head meeting specs for CAB Prime. Ninety-three percent (93%) of the cattle were Yield Grades 2-3, with an overall yield of 63%.

The second pen was equally as impressive. This 37 head load had an average hot carcass weight of 797 pounds. Again, 100% of the pen graded USDA Choice and 41% met specifications for Certified Angus Beef. More than 72% posted Yield Grades 2-3. The net carcass value from these two impressive pens of finished cattle ranged up to just over $1.62 per pound.

Approximately 85 full and half siblings to these cattle sell March 26, 2011 at the J-Buckle Ranch 3rd Annual Bull Sale at Elk City, Oklahoma.
